The Arbitration Foundation of Southern Africa will be presenting an outstanding mediation course in the Garden Route in July 2024. This is a unique opportunity not to be missed by anyone interested in acquiring or improving their mediation skills.

This mediation course forms part of AFSA’s Programme in Advanced Alternative Dispute Resolution, offered in association with and acknowledged by the University of Pretoria. The mediation course offers those interested in dispute resolution the opportunity to attend the course as a stand-alone course, or to use it as a credit (valid for two years from date of completion) towards AFSA’s Advanced Programme in Dispute Resolution. This is a unique opportunity to acquire or improve your skills in the ever-expanding field of dispute resolution offered by the acknowledged leader in dispute resolution in South Africa. The Mediation course is a 5 day intensive course, ensuring the development of individual skills. Practical exercises and personal attention to attendees is aimed at ensuring mastering the skills of mediating a dispute.

THE AUSTRALIAN ARBITRATION WEEK
Will take place in the week of 9 to 13 October 2023 in Perth. The Australian Centre for International Commercial Arbitration (ACICA), together with the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators Australia (Ciarb Australia) will launch AAW2023 which attracts speakers and delegates from Australia and across the world. It enjoys the support of national and global institutions, law firms, government, business, the judiciary, and academia. THE 9TH ANNUAL INTERNATIONAL ARBITRATION CONFERENCE
Presented by the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London (SOAS) will take place in Cape Town on the 11th of October 2023. The theme of this year’s conference is Arbitration Procedure with the focus on the preliminary meeting/CMC, drafting a procedural orderwitness, examination challenges, tribunal deliberations and drafting the award.

AFSA retains the right to cancel the course if the number of candidates does not justify the presentation of the course in the Garden Route. Any monies paid will be returned promptly.

Upon receipt of the above, an invoice will be issued by AFSA. (Payment due by 10 July 2024)

Conditions:

  • The number of applicants is limited and acceptance of suitable candidates will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • In the case of insufficient applications, AFSA reserves the right to cancel the course as such. In this event, applicants will be informed and all fees will be refunded immediately.
  • The course will take place at the Masters Room, Ground Floor, Dynarc House, 31 Courtenay Street, George.
  • No refunds or cancellations will be allowed if cancelled less than two weeks before the date of commencement of the course. Replacement delegates are acceptable.
  • Delegates are required to be in attendance for the full hours of the course. Delegates failing to do so may not be certified.
