The YAFSA Mentoring Programme is designed to foster meaningful connections and growth through structured mentorship. Here’s how the process works:
1. Notification and Onboarding:
Selected participants and mentors have been notified, and application forms have been distributed. Mentors are responsible for initiating direct contact with their assigned mentees to establish communication and lay the groundwork for productive engagement.
2. Commitment to Participation:
Mentees are expected to actively engage in their mentoring group’s activities, including meeting with their mentor and fellow mentees at least once per quarter (four times a year). While mentors are encouraged to arrange the initial meet and greet—virtually or in person—mentees are encouraged to take the initiative in scheduling follow-up meetings or calls as needed.
3. Flexible Structure and Scheduling:
Each mentoring group can decide on the structure and frequency of its sessions based on its goals and availability. This adaptive approach ensures that the mentoring experience is relevant and effective for all participants.
4. Accountability and Progress Monitoring:
Both mentors and mentees are expected to actively participate and commit. YAFSA will regularly monitor the programme’s progress to ensure its effectiveness. Mentees are encouraged to schedule at least one catch-up session with their mentor every three months to maintain momentum and track their development journey.
