AFSA International Court Second Plenary Meeting

On 3 March 2026, the Arbitration Foundation of Southern Africa (AFSA) hosted a landmark series of events centred on the work of the AFSA International Court, bringing together leading figures from the international arbitration community.

The day commenced with the Second Plenary Meeting of the AFSA International Court, chaired by the Court’s President, Prof. Lise Bosman. The Court provides a supervisory function over the application of the AFSA International Arbitration Rules.

During the meeting, the Court considered a number of important governance and operational matters relating to AFSA’s international arbitration activities. Among the decisions taken was the agreement to appoint additional members to the AFSA Court over the next two years, in order to ensure continuity of the Court’s operations and diversity of its membership. This follows the Court’s recent recommendation of three new members to the AFSA Board for appointment to the International Court, from Nairobi, Paris/Mali and South Africa, reflecting AFSA’s continued commitment to broadening its global representation.
